Edinburgh Branch – Breakfast and AGM, Tuesday 11th October 2011

The Apex International Hotel, 31 Grassmarket, Edinburgh, EH1 2HS,

 08:00am to 10:00am.

The morning will start with a very brief Annual General Meeting at which the office bearers for the Edinburgh Branch will be elected for the next 12 months. A formal notice of the meeting and its agenda are enclosed with this letter. The AGM is open to all paid-up members, whether or not they stay for the breakfast.

The AGM will be followed by a breakfast, served in the acclaimed Heights Restaurant, at the Apex International Hotel. The breakfast will comprise a choice of either continental or cooked. The restaurant is situated at the top of the building and has a spectacular view of the Castle.

The Breakfast will be followed by a talk, with questions and answers, from Cllr Tim McKay and Mr Dave Anderson of the City of Edinburgh Council about the vision and plans for Edinburgh's economic development, post-trams. Cllr. McKay is vice-convenor of the City Council's Economic Development Committee and Mr Anderson is the Director of the City Council's Development Department. In the midst of a difficult time for international commerce with a review underway of the Lothian Region's economy and with local Council elections forthcoming this is an appropriate time for about a dialogue about the future of Edinburgh as a centre for business.

This event will be an opportunity to hear from the council about their economic development proposals for the city, as well as a chance to meet with fellow FSB members and the guests of honour. Partners and, or, non-member guests are welcome. The cost of the breakfast is just £10 for FSB members and £15 for non-members. Numbers for the breakfast are however limited, so applications will be treated as first-come, first-served. I hope that you will be able to join us.

Your branch’s committee looks forward to welcoming you to the Heights Restaurant.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Dixon

Chairman, Edinburgh Branch
